ABOUT OUR WELDING PROCESS
Manual, automated, and multi-process welding solutions
Customers increasingly rely on AP Precision for completely assembled products. Because of this, over the last several years we have dramatically expanded our welding capabilities. We’ve added gantry systems, fume extraction, and multi-process machines at each station. Customers rely on us for their thin gauge box builds and heavy plate welding, whether for automotive or heavy machinery applications. Supervision of the weld team is maintained by the lead certified welder, and our toolroom keeps inventory of all weld-jigs that are purpose-built for customer products. Utilizing a combination of automated systems, manual weld cells and hybrid systems with collaborative robots, we are able to achieve rapid ramp-ups in productivity without sacrificing quality.
OUR WELDING EQUIPMENT
State of the art machinery guarantees precise and durable welds
MIG
MIG welding provides optimal welding speeds for heavy gauge and plate parts. We achieve quick joining of a wide range of materials with great penetration. Our weld stations process production runs of weldments ranging from 2 lbs to 300 lbs on a daily basis.
TIG
TIG welding is leveraged for more precise applications, thinner gauge materials, and to meet specific cosmetic requirements. TIG weld beads often possess a cosmetic appearance that requires no grinding or cleanup of the product, allowing it to go right to the customer, or through a painting process.
SPOT WELDING
Spot welding provides a strong joint between two flat surfaces. It’s the fastest method of joining material, and as such, it is favored by many clients. This applies with steel, electro-galvanized steel and aluminum weldments.
ROBOTIC MIG
We utilize fully enclosed robotic MIG cells for smaller weldments with sufficient stable volume. Collaborative robotic MIG systems are used in conjunction with manual welders for lower volume weldments with high weld times.
